The WIC Luncheon held
on November 15th was a great success. We had 104 attendees which
included our own flag officers Commodore Nancy Bess and Rear Commodore Bob
Taylor. The first steps of invitations, name tags and protocol were handled by
Susie Dickson and Shirley Wood.
The inspired fall
decorations were created by Dorothy Matthews and Janice Waddell while Marcia
Snow designed lovely pet descriptions for the photographs of pets used in the
centerpieces and borrowed from members who generously shared.
The delectable salad
lunch was prepared by Donna and PC Dave Printz,
served by John Nordgren, PC Jerry Matthews, PC
Russell Sweany, Darrel Wood, Roy Jensen, Cal Ulberg, Wayne Carslin and Jim
Jeter. The food was accompanied by
liquid refreshments arranged for by Joan MacInnes and
served at the bar by Wes MacInnes and PC Fred Cole.
The punch was put together by Rosemarie Arthur and the punch bowl was attended
by Harriet McLaren and Mary DeLaGrange. Sound and music were supervised by Simon Josowitz who also fetched and carried for many days prior
to the event.
The traditional
basket raffle was profitable, helping to defray costs. Baskets were raffled off
and delivered by Tish Jeter, Ute Lawson and Linda
Cole. Attendees were eager to purchase raffle tickets because our own Commodears who donated them put in great effort to make
them beautiful. Those Commodears were Diann Hemmert, Shirley Wood,
Donna Printz, Joan MacInnes,
Rosemarie Arthur, Yvonne Josowitz, Patty Wagner,
Janice Waddell, Judy Schiner, JoAnn
Gromling, Harriet McLaren, Christine Case, Commodore
Nancy Bess, and Diane Taylor.
There were many
people who came to help set up; Shirley Herridge, Diann Hemmert, Shirley Wood,
Miriam Shirley, Tish Jeter, Patty Wagner, Cal Ulberg, Joan Lusty, Carol Lowrie,
Judy Schiner, Susie Dickson and Joan MacInnes.
All of these people
contributed to making our club look attractive and giving visitors from other
Grand 14 yacht clubs an enjoyable experience we were very proud of. There were
a few that really went out of their way and I would like to especially thank.
Shirley Herridge was at my side everyday for three
days willingly and capably doing anything and everything needed. Patty Wagner
was assigned “screaming last minute” tasks which took her from Port Orchard to
Silverdale finding and buying the items needed to complete the picture. Wayne Carslin, Roy Jensen and Cal Ulberg
were my shining knights that stayed and stayed until every last dish and glass were washed, put away and the galley cleaned up.
My
heartfelt thanks to all of you.
